Pioneer Sportsmen, Inc. Membership
As of April 2026, Pioneer Sportsmen Inc is no longer accepting applications for the 2026 membership year. We will open up our membership applications in early 2027 based on membership renewal rates.
Prospective members are required to perform the following prior to being considered for Pioneer membership:
Submit a completed Pioneer Membership Application
Complete and pass Pioneer’s Range Rule or Archery test with a score of 90% or higher.
The Full Member and Archery Only tests can be completed online here.
The test is open book
Please use the same email to take the range rules test that you used to fill out your membership application.
Submit a recently completed (within 6 months) NH Department of Safety Background check.
This can be done online through the Department of Safety website or in person at 33 Hazen Drive, Concord, Room 106A.
Another state equivalent is an acceptable substitute.
Active duty military and law enforcement are exempt from this requirement, but must show credentials.
Please email all background checks to vicepresident@pioneersportsmen.org.
Provide proof of recent attendance (within the past 5 years) and successful completion of a gun safety/gun handling course.
The course must be a minimum duration of two hours and include range time.
A concealed carry permit or the NH Fish and Game Hunter Safety course do not fulfill this requirement.
Active participation in a shooting sport such as USPSA, IDPA, or GPA can be shown to satisfy this requirement.
Archery only members are exempt from this requirement.
Active duty military and law enforcement are exempt from this requirement, but must show credentials.
Please email all course completion certificates to vicepresident@pioneersportsmen.org.
Need a safety course?
Our club maintains a list of active instructors who teach at our club. Many of these instructors offer a basic firearms handling course that meets the requirements for membership. You can find their contact information on the Instructors page in the top navigation bar.
Orientation
After completing the requirements above, prospective members will be invited to attend an Orientation that consists of the following:
Review of general firearm or archery safety rules, Pioneer's range rules, by-laws governing Pioneer, and instruction on the proper use of Pioneer’s facilities.
Walk through all ranges (indoor and outdoor) and review specific rules that apply to each range.
Safe gun handling qualification. (Does not apply to Archery Only Members).
You must demonstrate the ability to safely handle your gun and shoot 10 rounds (with at least one reload) at a full-size IDPA target at 50 feet.
If using a pistol, all 10 rounds must hit the target.
You may use a rifle; however, it must be pistol cartridge or rim-fire only. If you are using a rifle, all 10 rounds must hit the "zero" deduction area of the IDPA target (8" circle in middle of target).
Pay membership dues.
Annual membership dues are $175, payable in October. New member dues will be prorated based upon the month that the new member orientation is completed.
A one-time $25 orientation fee upon satisfactory completion of the new member orientation.
Other Information
New membership is probationary for one year. Membership in Pioneer is a privilege, revocable by the Board of Directors upon the new member’s failure to display good judgment, integrity, and good sportsmanship.
It is the responsibility of all Pioneer members, including associate members and their guests, to follow all applicable rules, regulations, and by-laws. Pioneer rules, regulations and by-laws are published on our website. Failure to comply with these may result in the immediate loss of membership privileges and forfeiture of any dues or fees paid.
Individuals interested in becoming Pioneer Sportsmen, Inc. (“Pioneer”) members are encouraged to attend a Pioneer bi-yearly meeting. Bi-yearly meetings are held the first Thursday in April at 7:00 p.m. at Pioneer and the October annual meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. Annual membership renewals take place from 4 – 6 p.m. on this day.
