Archery
Pioneer Sportsmen offers one of the premier archery shooting
facilities in New England. Our one year old well lit and heated
32’ by 100’ “Leon Gilman Archery Center”
allows us 12 shooting spots at a maximum range of 25 meters. Our
14 target field archery course is an easy walk on the 44 wooded
acres owned by Pioneer Sportsmen Inc. For outdoor target archery
we have a range with a maximum shooting distance of 70 meters.
Practice targets are next to the clubs main building with shooting
distances from 20 to 55 yards. There is a tree stand for the avid
hunters to sight in on two targets placed at unknown distances
from the stand. We also have 30 3D lanes, during the summer months
3D targets are set up for practice.
Pioneer Sportsmen holds tournaments on the last weekend of the
month year round. On Tuesday evenings we have our league night,
indoor league during the winter and 3D during the summer, Friday
evenings we have league practice night. The rest of time the facility
is available for members to come and shoot at their leisure. Each
member is given a key to both Pioneer Sportsmen’s buildings
as well as the gate to the outdoor gun ranges.
The Officers and Directors have designed Pioneer Sportsmen’s
facility so that all of our shooting sports disciplines can be
enjoyed at the same time safely. It is not unusual to have people
shooting field archery, practicing in the 70 meter range, and
sighting in on the practice targets, while the monthly IDPA and
Steel Silhouette matches are taking place.
